Immediate Implant Placement
With immediate implant placement, extraction of the natural tooth and placement of an implant takes place in one sitting. This requires that sufficient bone is present in the jaw and that the surgical area is largely free of inflammation.
If a tooth cannot be preserved, it is better to replace it with an implant as soon as possible. The danger of infection and degradation of bone in the jaw can thus be prevented, something which would be complicated by implanting at a later stage. If all conditions are right, arduous bone grafting can be eliminated with immediate implant placement.
During the same treatment session, a temporary crown can be secured to the implant. If the implant displays high stability when placed, biting pressure can be immediately applied. Good bone quality and a specialized implant are essential.
