Interdisciplinary Periodontal Therapy
The cause of most tooth loss is still due to diseases of the parodontium, called periodontitis. Early detection, long-term therapy and a scientifically based treatment concept can often prevent tooth loss. More than half of all adults in Germany suffer from periodontal disease (periodontitis), which is infection of the periodontal apparatus, especially the interdental spaces. Of these, 10 to 15 percent have severe cases. With infection, the gums are red, swollen and bleed easily. Bacterial plaque covers the teeth. Today we know that regular, professional dental hygiene is essential to prevent the development of periodontitis and caries. In 95 percent of cases, existing periodontitis can be halted with therapeutic measures.
